When Unilever wanted to renovate their Toronto offices they had the idea of creating a modern space, while keeping sustainable products in mind. A decision was made by the company to switch from the quintessential workplace to a hoteling system in which the employees could choose different work environments throughout the day, which suited their needs. In a hoteling system, as there are no assigned seating arrangements, hence, the employees would need a personal storage space so that they can store their belongings.
With the idea of creating a modern working space with its main focus on sustainable products, Unilever reached out to our storage experts at Spacesaver Solutions Inc. to help them design a storage space that not only looks great but also works well in the longer run. A customized sustainable locker solution was created which fit the new modern look of their offices and would hold up for years despite daily use.
Customized 400 Five-tier Lockers Span Two floors of Office Space:
The experts at Spacesaver Solutions Inc. worked out a locker solution which consisted of about 400 lockers openings spanned across two floors of the new office space. The locker storage was designed keeping in mind not only the current work force but also the potential future growth of the company.
With a height of 5 tiers or 68 inches, these lockers have a steel door with a customized vinyl number graphics. These vinyl numbers are easily replaceable in the future. This feature is sustainable as it creates a whole new look without any expense or damage to the environment.
Combination lock system was chosen by Unilever for the lockers so that the employees do not have to worry about losing their keys. These combination locks are not powered by batteries, which not only reduces maintenance cost but is environmentally friendly. Each feature of the locker system has been designed keeping in mind not only sustainability, but also environmental impacts.
The unique locker system has provided the employees with their dedicated personal storage space in the hoteling environment. The staff is not only enjoying their new work arrangements but they are also loving the looks, functionality and sustainability of their lockers.
