Preparing Your Cold Calling Script

One of the best opportunities that we can receive to get in touch with an important person is to land a cold call. But here’s the sad news. This method is not easy as it is effective. But it does not mean that it is not impossible. Because at the end of the day, anything is possible in the business world for someone who is smart enough. So, do you have what it takes? Because if you don’t, this article is sure to help you. That being said, you can now read on to know how to achieve this most difficult task so you can tap yourself on the back and end up feeling more successful:

So, before we move on, let’s first have a look at the two most likely persons who are going to stand in your way when you intend to cold call the CEO or other such important person of a company:

  1. The receptionist – This person who answers the phone and handles general admin tasks is usually quite easy to handle as she is usually asked to put almost everyone through.
  1. The personal assistant – Now this person may be a bit difficult. But you cannot blame. She is only doing her job by seeing that only the most important calls reach her manager, who is paying for her bread and butter. But here is how you can handle her:

Communication is the Key

Yes, the secret to success here is communication. Prepare a dramatic cold calling script on how to get past the gatekeeper. So, how do you do these things. It’s actually easy. Let us look at the four steps below:

Pretend to know the boss: Don’t downright lie. Just take up the right tone. Like

“Is Mr. Hugh in yet?” This can give the impression that you know Mr. Hugh personally. Nice trick?

Sound Confident: So don’t babble or go on to explain too much. This may come across as pleading or trying to explain and may lose your chance of convincing her into getting you through.

Sound Important and Urgent: While you don’t have to explain yourself, you do have to introduce yourself in the most effective way. The best way is to come to the point. State what this is regarding, but ensure that it sounds like something really very important.

And if all of this works, and you are good enough, there you are. Your cold calling script is soon going to help you find yourself on the phone with the person that you wanted on the other end of the line.
